Force the phone to operate in GSM (2G) mode only

Why?

Save battery using the phone in 2G mode only means it won't waste battery power searching for 3G cells. It also means the phone won't need to use as much energy when transmitting your phone calls, because 2G cells are currently much closer together than 3G cells.
Less cancers - using the phone at lower frequencies and lower power levels reduces cancer risk, although you may still get cancer from using your mobile phone.

Install the application

This link will install the application. If you get an error, you need to go to `Menu', `Tools', `Settings', `Manager'. Use the `Options' button and choose `Settings'. Change `Software Installatiion' to `On'.

Run the application

The application will appear in your `Menu' with the name `Test'. The icon looks like a bug.

Press the right arrow

Keep pressing the right arrow until the screen shows `81.1' in the heading area.

Press `Options'

Then press `Execute'. Put the value you want:

1 to stay in 2G GSM mode
2 to stay in 3G (WCDMA) mode

Now press `OK'

Wait for 5 seconds

The phone will now reboot. You will be able to use it again in a moment.
